One of the questions which has been raised regarding the text of the Quran is that whether the words of the Quran just like its content and meaning is divine revelation or the content was sent by God in form of revelation to the Prophet (s.a.w) and the Prophet, himself, made the content in forms of the words. There are two major views in this matter: First thinks that the words and the text of the Quran are part of revelation which is the viewpoint accepted by the majority and second thinks the words are humanitarian words. Based on the second view, the words of the Quran are the words of the Prophet and only the content of the Quran is divine revelation. This view confronts the Quran[1], tradition and Ijma’. In this article first the meaning of revelation has been defined and then different views related to it has been explained, analyzed and criticized. The right view along with its reasoning has been mentioned at the end and the conclusion is that the Quran is the word of God and not the word of the Prophet. Because we can truly relate a word to the speaker only when he, himself, has used the meaning with words and had made his intentions to words. If the Prophet, himself, has made the words of the Quran and put the meanings in terms of the words, then the Quran will not be the word of Allah and by concentrating on absoluteness of the term “Kalam-o-Allah” (words of God) which applies on the Quran and the concept of “Kalam” (words) in which having a word has been mentioned earlier, it will become clear that the words of the Quran are divine and all of its words have the capacity of being related to the Essence of the Sublime and Exalted.
