Four distinct perspectives on the nature of humankind can be observed in Mullā Ṣadrā’s works. In some passages, human beings are portrayed as having a good nature; in others, they are presented as having a bad nature. Based on the theory of Tabula rasa (blank state), Ṣadrā, in some instances, believes in the potential of humans for both good and evil, which becomes actualized later. Ṣadrā’s fourth view is that humans do not possess a unified nature; each individual has a unique nature (Fiṭrah). The present research, following Ṣadr al-Mutaʾallihīn’s method of synthesizing disparate views of predecessors and ultimately expressing a specific view according to his philosophical system, seeks to explain all his statements in this regard by providing a relevant and appropriate interpretation, and to present a unified theory on this issue based on the principles of Ṣadrian philosophy. This research, conducted using a descriptive-analytical method, demonstrates for the first time that Mullā Ṣadrā adopted a fourth view on the issue of Fiṭrah and that this view is more consistent with his philosophical foundations and it can be said that this view is comprehensive of his other views on the issue of Fiṭrah.
