Shia, Mu'tazila and Asha’era have had differences in the explanation of "Prophecy" based on their principles and bases of cognition. Influenced by the teachings of the family of the Prophet, the Shiites have moderately benefited from reason and narration. On the other hand, Mu'tazila with extreme rationalism and Asha’era with extreme narrativism have sometimes faced challenges and errors in understanding and explaining the epistemological issues of religion. The issue of "prophecy" and its various dimensions is one of the issues in which the layers of disagreement of Muslim theologians can be traced. The present research has examined and analyzed with a descriptive-analytical method the theological thoughts of Sheikh Mofid, Abu Bakr Al-Baqillani and Abdul Jabbar Mu'tzili on the issue of "prophecy" and its sub-topics. The present research shows that in the system of thought of all the three, adherence to "reasoning" has a special place. Examining the different dimensions of "prophecy" in the works of Sheikh Mofid shows that he is noticeably affected by the logic of the Quran, although he discusses completely rationally and without relying on the verses and traditions in methodology and necessity of prophecy. Al-Baqillani considers religious knowledge to be among the theoretical sciences, and from his point of view, intellectual reasons are in the service of Sharia. Abdul Jabbar Mu'tazili, influenced by other Mu'tazilies before him, has an intellectual view about "Prophecy".
