The paper is to examine the relationship between faith and knowledge from the viewpoint of 'Allāmah Ṭabāṭabā'ī and 'Allāmah Javādī Āmulī. Both of them consider action beyond the realm of faith, and regard "heartfelt bond" and "innate recognition" as the pillars of faith, but hold differing views on the place of knowledge in faith. 'Allāmah Ṭabāṭabā'ī considers it impossible to achieve faith without knowledge, but according to Ayatollah Javādī Āmulī's point of view, it is possible to find faith in conventional manner. While presenting the correct explanation of 'Allāmah Ṭabāṭabā'ī's view and reviewing some readings of his viewpoint in a critical - comparative method, it is described that 'Allāmah Ṭabāṭabā'ī has defined the bliss-making faith from the perspective of Islam, but 'Allāmah Javādī discusses absolute faith. 'Allāmah Javādī believes that however faith is attainable in conventional manner but it would not be blessing, and only the faith evolved out of knowledge could be fruitful. The paper, criticizing both above mentioned views, comes to the conclusion that imitative and uncertain faith would be beneficial for human beings in some cases.
