The relationship between the principle of "Imamate" in Shiite political thought, meaning political leadership, and "authoritarianism" as a form of government has been pursued by a range of Western and indigenous writers. Some who consider the Imam's rule to be authoritarian use the compound "Islamic Leviathan" to refer to it and refer to Hobbes' important work, the Leviathan, without providing a convincing scientific formulation. This article uses the method of description and interpretation to critique the similarity of the Shiite Imamate with Hobbesian authoritarianism. Thus, after presenting a formulation of the idea of "Islamic Leviathan" based on Hobbes's view of justifying absolute rule, it proves its incorrectness from the perspective of Shiite political thought. The result is that due to the difference between Shiite political thought and Hobbes's view on the end of prosperity and Being a power is a secondary matter, the negation of unilateral Exploitation in the natural state, the importance of the people's vote before and after the establishment of government, the divinity of government, the necessity of religious and secular features, Mutual rightsof the ruler and the people, the need for the ruler to have special conditions and shortcomings in Anthropology, the idea of "Islamic Leviathan" is rejected.
