Ahmad ibn Ismail Basri (Ahmad al-Hassan) is one of the false claimants of Mahdism who claimed himself as Yamānī in 2002, by starting his propagation. He then went on calling himself the son of Imam Mahdi and his successor. The Dream has been referred to as clear direct divine injunction in his innovative law of “Authority Recognition” (clear injunction, knowledge, and inviting to divine sovereignty), and only a dream is believed to have authority that has affirmative recognizable injunction. He cites rational arguments in addition to narrative reasons to prove the authenticity of dream. What makes this article different from other related studies is the study of rational arguments for the validity of dreams, because in order to avoid vicious circle, the reasons for authenticity of dream as a general principles of recognizing the authority, must be rational reasons. His three rational reasons include: divine wisdom necessitating identification of divine caliph, impossibility of leading astray by the divine, and the authority of certainty that the dreamer has gained. The errors of this view can be expressed very well by distinguishing between two stages of appointment of the Caliph by God, and introducing him to people, also between events entailing meaning and their truthfulness. The misleading by divine is ruled out as well by emphasizing on human’s choice in selecting a source of knowledge. In addition, the premises of dreamer’s certainty in a dream is also criticized by citing substantial reasons of all dreams lacking conformity with the reality. The authority of the dream has never been accepted among Shiite thinkers independently. Authenticity of any type of vague vision is solely by the criterion of clear definite injunction, and conformity with rational reason.
