One of the topics that entails great amount of importance in the views of mankind is the topic of God’s existence. Does God exist? Does believing in God is justified? Hans Küng, the Swiss Catholic priest, theologian, and author, tries to prove and justify God’s existence by emphasizing on His position as the base of reality while pointing out the inefficiency of rational reasoning in proving His existence. He believes that rejecting God’s existence necessitates the rejection of reality and one will fall for Nihilism. According to him, one can confirm God’s existence just by his practical interaction with the reality of himself and the world around without any reasoning.
The works of Hans Küng, including his important work titled as “Does God Exist?”[1], has been reviewed in this article. Additionally we have criticized his view and offered an analytical version of his view. It seems like despite of his great work in avoiding the use of reasoning on proving His existence, still he has used a type of transcendental reasoning.
[1] The complete title of the book in English is “Does God Exist? An Answer for Today”. This book has been translated to Farsi titles as “Khoda dar Andisheh Filsoofan Gharb” by Hasan Qanbari.
