The paper is to study the views of Muhammad Mujtahid Shabistarī regarding the reality of faith. He believes that faith, in fact, is a kind of religious experience, which is not only irrelevant to arguments and theoretical issues, but basically, has no any connection with learning or knowledge in general and with belief in particular. In his point of view, faith is compatible with doubt, but it is irreconcilable with despair. Based on phenomenological method in history, he says that Muslims must rely on their religious experience more than religious. knowledge, because restoring religion is depended on Muslims' religious experience rather than reinstating religious thoughts and knowledge, for religious knowledge draws on religious experience that is the most important and profound layer of the religion. Concerning the reality of faith, however Shabistarī applies the experiences of all believers in general as a criterion of faith in order to embrace anyone who claims faith, but further he explains the reality of faith in the way that does not include many levels of human life. Therefore, analyzing his ideas ends to question the inner solidarity of his words about the reality of faith.
