One of the most challenging concepts in the field of religious beliefs is the “concept of answered prayer”. Most religious people consider the answer to prayer to be exclusively the fulfillment of their desires and consider the failure to fulfill their desires as a failure to answer the prayer; however, numerous intellectual and narrative evidence indicate that the concept of answered prayer is broader than this common notion. The present study, using a descriptive-analytical approach and focusing on the views of Mullah Hadi Sabzevari, explores this issue in order to present a systematic, wise explanation of the “concept of answered prayer”. By examining the opinions of Hakim Sabzevari, it is concluded that the answer to prayer can be explained in three ways: "Answering means the fulfillment of the servant's desire, answering means the success of praying, and answering means changing the prayer into something better”. In the first interpretation - which is the most common explanation - "the non-answering of prayer" may be raised, while according to the second and third interpretations, prayer is always answered. This special reading of the answer to prayer, in addition to being consistent with the narrative evidence, has valuable consequences: "removing the apparent contradiction in religious texts, the effectiveness of all prayers, the inherent desirability of prayer, a revision of the concept of the wrong prayer, and prayer as existential growth" and also provides a deeper understanding of the philosophy of worship in Transcendent Theosophy.
